Yeah - good riddance to Bin Laden....

Back to the original question, think I'd prefer to watch the grass grow rather than watch either event....

PS - I left Kerrang on to avoid the wedding  default/big_smile

Ye really nice guitar. But i dont have that money to spend in one go. which fails quite alot  default/sad

Might be worth just trying say the Omen 6, and then trying something else in the shop that has EMG's then you can hear the difference.

Apparently Schecter and ESP owned by the same people, and I did read somewhere that some of them are made in the same factory..

Good luck with your search - my purchases were both impulse buys... Went it just to try, compare etc, and well u know how it goes....  default/big_smile

If you've got around £400-£500 to spend, to be honest I'd just get the one guitar, and get one with better pick ups etc.

I would EMG's are good pickups for metal too, and much better than those you get on the Omen.

The ESP's are fab but if you want to do alternate tunings its a nightmare - lots of metal is in drop d or c, so a hard tail would be a good option, have a look at this:-

This has got active EMG's, and when I played it in the shop I loved it:-

That's the thing, a Floyd is death for alt tunings.  My first ESP I picked up in 88, had a Floyd and when Soundgarden came out with Badmotorfinger, in 92 there went that, I tore it out blocked it and installed a fixed bridge and never looked back.  To this day I dont want anything to do with a Floyd.  I have passed up incredible guitars simply because I wanted a fixed bridge.  I did all my FR stuff and got it out of my system, you might say!

Yep - can see were you are coming from on that! Never thought of getting it taken out and replaced with a fixed bridge... hmmm....

Not tried drop B yet (not come across any Rammstein that uses that  default/smile )

You are a Demon, drop D.

Do you play in other tunings?

LOL - yeah - I've done some stuff in drop C too, if I was doing more, I think the ESP would be put in C, as going from open to D with the hard tail isn't a biggie... whereas the C is a pain..

I've got an ESP - I really like it the but found the floyd rose a pain when wanting to play in different tunings, so I looked at the Schecter Omen, as I wanted a hardtail I could use for alternate tunings.
The Omen was ok, but when I tried the Damien I much preferred it, I was torn between the Solo6  and the Special - the only difference between the 2 were active or passive EMGs, I went for the slightly cheaper Special with the passives, and it is an amazing guitar, sounds really good (although I do wish I'd gone for the Solo 6 now).
I use the Damien most of the time now, and the ESP is kept in drop D.

I've got the Line 6 spider IV 30 and really like it, I've also got the channel changer and pocket pod to go with it  default/big_smile

I play mainly metal.

I've got Total Guitar on subscription (got a nice Guitar Tech distortion pedal when I signed up), I like it, but wished it was a more metal orientated...
Will probably look around at a few others when the subscription is due to renew.

If you don't want to buy a copy of guitar pro, there is some freeware called Tux Guitar that can read guitar pro files, it isn't as powerful as the real guitar pro, but worth a look.

I've got the Spider IV30, it sounds good, plenty of effects, just teamed it with a pocket pod for more tones than I know what to do with :-)

Yeah...

Although I was watching a Metallica DVD a recently, and saw Kirk Hammett pick up the signature guitar I have, I was thinking "wow he actually plays that model", then I saw it was the one he smashed up every night...

Thanks :-)

The Black Album is good - although I'd probably say either Kill em All or Master of Puppets are my favourites..

I like Slipknot too - I've got a few of their albums, think Duality is my fave track of theirs.
