I looked at them, but got the pocket pod instead, as you can get more tones etc, but still record via USB.

Re: Got a lesson on Tuesday (11 replies, posted in General Chat)
Its a mixed bag TBH. I teach anyone from a left-handed six year old with concentration issues up to a guy who wants to seranade his wife on their anniversary (ahhh bless). Its the moments when you make a break through that make it all worthwhile (plus the cash LOL). I dont pretend to know everything about the guitar but I have a reasonably analytical approach that helps people eliminate problems.
It does take a fair investment of time to do lesson plans etc. but generally its good fun. The ones who make my heart sink are anyone who thinks they will get better without practicing.
Sounds like you are enjoying it, and doing well.
Out of interest, do you spend time in advance of each lesson thinking what you will cover the next time? Also how do you handle the people that don't practice?
I know I struggle to get the balance between practicing new things, and enjoying playing...

Re: Got a lesson on Tuesday (11 replies, posted in General Chat)
TBH all I want to learn to do it be able to play some of my favourite songs. When left to my own devices I often pick stuff that's too hard for my level, then get fed up as I feel I'm not progressing...
So I'm hoping that with the right guidance I can work on songs that are achievable, and improve my technique..
I admire people that can teach themselves guitar from scratch, but I prefer to have someone to explain more and show me were I'm going wrong. (plus I'd have thrown the thing out of the window by now if i'd never had lessons!)
How are you finding teaching?

Cool - for some reason I've always stuck with Ernie Ball, should really experiment with a few others (once I've worked through my stash!)

Re: Got a lesson on Tuesday (11 replies, posted in General Chat)
Thanks - the lesson went really well, firstly rock & metal is my new teachers genre, which is a very good starting point, and he seemed to explain things really well, so I've asked for a regular slot.
My playing went to pot a bit -but that was prob because I was a bit nervous at first.
I've now got Enter Sandman to work on for my next lesson, am struggling on one of the riffs, but hopefully will be a bit (well lot!) of effort I'll get it something like for next time

Re: guitar strings ? (11 replies, posted in Guitars)
If you're playing about an hour a day then you want to change your strings every 1 - 2 months, it really does make a difference to the sound.

Topic: Got a lesson on Tuesday (11 replies, posted in General Chat)
Decided to start having lessons again, which was proving a little challenging, contacted 2 places, who never bothered getting back to me - gave the first place 2 weeks as they did ring and explain a few days after I'd left the message that the guitar teach was off, but he was back in a couple of days and would ring me - but no joy. The second place they took all my details, waited a week and nothing... But third time lucky, this guy got back to me the next day, so I've got a lesson booked
Now need to practice lots this weekend....

By the way saw there is a guitar fair on at Rheged in Penrith on the bank holiday, could be worth a look

I've got the Spider Line IV30, which I sometimes use with the pocket pod, and also standard distortion pedal.. DO have a crybaby which would work well if I was skilled enough in its use combined with playing...

Re: Iron Maiden (5 replies, posted in General Chat)
How much are tickets to see them?
The Iron Maiden ticket was around £45, the Metallica one was £90 - as it was a festival day ticket, but still not and when you consider Diamond Head, Anthrax, Megadeth & Slayer where also playing too.
PS - thanks James
