Well after a few years of not going to gigs because none of my friends are into metal, this year, I decided to start going on my own, and I've had a great time, the people I've met have all been really friendly, wish I'd started going on my own years ago :-)
Metallica where amazing, I've wanted to see them for some time, and the atmosphere at Knebworth was fantastic. The set they did was very excellent, opened with Hit the Lights, then straight into Master of Puppets, and included all the classics - Seek & Destroy, Sanatorium, Sandman plus a good show of pyro's as the intro to One

Went to see Iron Maiden at the MEN last week, they put on their usual good show, probably if I hadn't seen Metallica at Soni a few weeks earlier I'd have thought it brilliant, but they had a very tough act to follow.
Still had a really good time, no voice, and hearing shot after the gig
Airbourne where supporting them, I'd only heard a couple of their songs, but they were fantastic, a really good live act - just wished they'd played for a bit longer!
No more gigs booked now until Rammstein in March (which is nearly sold out!), saw Rammstein at the MEN last year, and they where phenomenal, so expecting another good show.

LOL - well after download (which redefined wet!) I was fully prepared with an SAS poncho, scarf, hat and gloves when I went to Sonisphere, but luckily for me it stayed dry when I was there on the Friday...

James - it was amazing, was looking forwards to seeing Iron Maiden at the MEN in a couple of weeks, but after that.... I know Maiden are good live, but how can you top Metallica at soni?

LOL - actually the ears are fine, which was a shame really as my hotel was on a main road so I was awake from 6am due to traffic...
Here's a link to some of the pics I took, as you can see I wasn't too far from the stage (gave the mosh pit a miss - too old for that LOL)

I went to Sonisphere on Friday to see the big 4, missed Anthrax due to nightmare journey and motorway chaos... Megadeth where very good, adn as for Metallica, they where outstanding!
They played for about 2.30 hours and where brilliant. They opened with Hit the Lights, followed by Master of Puppets. Towards the end all the bands from the big 4 and diamond head came on and played diamond heads "am I evil" together - which was fantastic

I love my ESP but the Floyd rose was driving me mad. So I had spent ages on google, and ordered a part called a Tremel-No - this instructions said if you could change a set of strings you should be able to install this, but when I got it it looked horribly complicated to install so sent it back.
Googled some more, and then decided to take the back off and insert a block of wood (free!) to stop the floyd rose from moving.
It worked! And I can now play the ESP without the locking nuts on, and it stays in tune perfectly, so now I can go to drop D without having t get out a set of Allen keys - yeah!
