My favourite is EQ, wah, compressor, univibe, overdrive, distortion, fuzz, chorus, phase, delay & reverb.   default/big_smile

No advice here, but I'm also considering the same.

It looks like the OP has vanished, but I used to believe that an amp had to be made by Marshall, so when I was playing 1st time around, I went through 3 of them.

On returning to guitar, over a decade late, I bought an 80s Laney Lineback 20w practice amp which I was amazed with.  These days, I use another old 80s amp: a Peavey Classic Chorus 212.  It's an SS amp so always sounds the same and any volume and is both quiet enough to use indoors and easily loud enough for gigs.

the ' de twang factor'  ie it will soon sound like an old string if it gets impregnated with oil

It's acidic.

Does the Fender stuff rust the strings?

The cool thing about watching videos is you and stop and start as much as you want so you don't get lost and can go at your own pace and always come back to the lesson.

Works for me default/smile

I thought this was normal.  Certainly my SSS Strat and HSS Aria suffer a volume drop in positions 2 & 4.

Shooting messengers isn't my style.

What do you use?  In the past I used lemon oil but stopped as it made my strings rust much quicker.  I switched to simple furniture wax.  The reason I'm interested is that I bought an old Epi Explorer that had a dry fretboard and trying to find something that does the job (I do have some bore oil on the way).

Yes, I see one of the items is boiled linseed.....which I've heard mixed tales of.

Lard, being a food product, at some point, will become rancid.   Although until it does, it'll make your fingers smell like fish and chips.  default/big_smile

I see this thread on ever guitar forum.  There seems to be a lot of conflict.

All time?

Anything that: Tommy Bolin, Pat Travers, Glenn Hughes, Robin Trower, Sammy Hagar have been involved in.

Some other newer interests too, but that's another story.  default/big_smile

Hey there - Another fairly newbie here.  Not anywhere near your skill level though.

I like the Ibanez guitars to play, but I'm now a Strat convert. default/smile

I'm not a dive bomber or really in need of a lot of trem, but I do like a waggle sometimes. default/smile

Thanks

I didn't really see a huge difference between MIM & US Strats in terms of build quality.  Mine doesn't have original pickups in (Tone Rider Pure Vintage) and it sounds better than the MIM Standards IMO.  The only thing I will change at some point is the trem block as the threads wear quite quickly (2010 model).

If your trem is still solid then there's just one way which yours is better.

Hi

New here.  I've recently returned to guitar after many years away (mid-life crisis).  I used to play in heavy rock/hair metal bands and I still like the heavier stuff but also appreciating blues and melodic stuff.

Current equipment -
Guitars: Fender MIM Strat, Epiphone Explorer, Aria Pro ii Magna Series
Amp: Peavey Classic Chorus 212
And an ever growing pedal board  default/big_smile
