Please post an links here to sites with backing tracks available.

Please also let us know if they are MIDI or real audio - of course the real audio ones are best.

I see many people pick up a guitar with the hope of learning it. Some give up, some go on to be great guitarists.

I think the main thing any potential guitarist needs to consider is how much time you are going to dedicate to practice.

I think learning the guitar is unlike any other instrument.

With the guitar you can pick it up without a scrap of knowledge and give it a few days and you can play Wonderwall almost as good as the record.

Then you hit a hurdle - these hurdles can take months to overcome. This is where the non dedicated will stumble and fail,

The deidcated will take on the hurdle and within a few weeks or maybe months overcome it.

These become the true guitarists.

How many people use this pedal? And which version do you have?

I have had both the Taiwanese DS-1, the JP DS-1 and the Keeley DS-1 - the one I still use is the Jap DS 1 simply because it sounds nicer. SEcond fav is the Keeley

I have heard that there is an older Jap DS-1 that is mean to sound better?

Be interested to know.

Well this has always been an issue of mine. how to get a good valve sound from an amp at low volumes.

I have tried powerbrakes and power attenuators - this didn't work. I tried lower wattage amps but still too loud.

I have now got a valvestate amp which I am finding ok although it lacks the tone and punch of the valve amp.

What does everyone else use?

I have several guitars.

They consist of an Ibanez RG Prestige which is a lovely guitar. This I use the most.

I then have a couple of other electrics. one is downtuned to easily allow me to play along with all those down tuner bands such as Guns n Roses and Ozzy.

I then have a Yamaha acoustic guitar. I use this a lot to sit and sing along to some Tenacious D.

I bought a semi-acoustic guitar a while back also - one with the rounded back by Applause. I bought it to allow easy recording of the acoustic guitar. In fact I now use it all the time as a regular acoustic as it is so nice to play and very comfortable.

I do have a bass guitar as well but this is rarely used. I only bought this to record with but unfortauntely do not find the time for it.
