most of it is just found in guitar tabs all over the net? it would depend on you if what guitar song is the genre you want to learn.

there is no right time but i think it is better to play when you do have time, guitar is a passion so wherever you have free spare do play some this make you better than the average player.

i did have the same bad habits i don't use my pinky often and try to imitate those solo using the strong fingers but when i did see some sweeps and solos of john P, and vai, yeah the satch of course i did have hard time. took a while to re learn things.

individuals have a varying tolerance some will have a tougher finger than the others. but as of now i think it is good to just warm up first. Yeah i do agree with that first 20 it is important.

you could do a full bend in your acoustic but will need a quality string for that. It is far easier to apply in a electric though.

Yeah i don't restricted my exercise to chromatics i just used them for warming up and then doing some real scale runs, some arpeggios and sweeps.

it is never too late, what matter is how fast you would learn all of those stuff and put them together.

Learning it should be very important if you want to be good at guitar playing and also if you want to work with other musicians. Beside if you love music then you will pursue learning this.
