Hey everyone, I'm a total beginner looking to buy my first guitar. I have a budget of around 500. Any advice on what type of guitar I should get?

Hey there! For a beginner, I recommend starting with a good quality acoustic guitar. Look for a reputable brand like Yamaha or Fender. They have great entry-level guitars within your budget that will last you a long time.

If you're into blues music, I suggest looking into a solid body electric guitar. They're versatile and great for learning different styles of music. Check out some beginner models from brands like Squier or Epiphone.

For all things metal, you can't go wrong with a solid body electric guitar with humbucker pickups. Look for something with a fast neck and good sustain. Brands like Jackson and Ibanez have great options for beginners.

As a fellow beginner, I recommend going to a music store and trying out different guitars to see what feels comfortable for you. Don't be afraid to ask the staff for help, they can guide you in the right direction based on your preferences.

I started out with a Yamaha acoustic guitar as a beginner and it served me well for years. It's durable, sounds great, and is easy to play. Definitely check out some Yamaha models in your price range.

Don't forget to budget for accessories like a guitar tuner, picks, a strap, and a gig bag. These are essential items that will make your playing experience more enjoyable. Good luck on your guitar journey!

It really is worth trying out a few guitars first of all. There are so many varieties and styles and these days it doesn't have to be expensive to get a quality instrument at a good price. £500 (or$500) is more than enough to get an instrument that will last a lifetime but at that budget a lot will come down to personal preference.

Of course, you do need to decide if you want to take the electric or acoustic route.
