I play solo acoustic at small gatherings and cafés, sometimes without amplification. I’ve noticed that some players seem to get much more volume and clarity from similar guitars.
Are there technique tips for improving projection without just playing harder?

A big factor is right-hand efficiency.
If your fingers move too far away from the strings or strike at inconsistent angles, you lose energy before it even reaches the top of the guitar. Practicing slow arpeggios while focusing on minimal motion and a clean, confident attack can noticeably increase volume without adding tension or fatigue.

Try playing closer to the bridge for certain passages. That can increase clarity and perceived volume.

Fresh strings help more than people think. Old strings lose brightness and don’t project as well.
