Doing your own setup can be rewarding but also intimidating. Have you tried adjusting action, intonation or truss rod yourself?

I learned basic setups from online guides and it saved me a lot of money.

I’m comfortable adjusting action but leave truss rod adjustments to professionals.

Once you understand how everything works, setups become much less scary.

Yes definitely something all guitarists should learn or at least have an understanding of.

Many people are scared of making adjustments, especially when it comes to the truss rod. But really, if you know to make small adjustments at a time then you really can't go too far wrong with it. Just quarter turns and reasses - and if you mess anything up then just turn it back the other way!

I set up all my guitars myself now and have done for many years. There are certain things I would not undertake like fret replacement or anything where you have to file or glue any parts. These sort of things are not needed at all frequently anyhow.
