When trying to memorize the fretboard, how can I test myself or practice calling out the notes. Is there an app or something people use that can flashcard the notes or call them out?

You don't need no apps for that. Easiest way to learn the fretboard is to memorize the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th frets on each string. Once you master them, the 15th, 17th, 19th, and 21st are the same exact notes as the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th frets. It's really that easy.

Fret Pro is great, I recommend it. It calls out a note on a string and uses the mic on your phone to hear when you hit the right note. You can customise the speed and which strings to practice.
