Some amazing tones come from very simple setups. What’s the simplest rig you’ve used that still sounded great?

A guitar, overdrive pedal and amp covers most of what I need.

A modeller with headphones has been surprisingly effective for home playing.

The most basic has to just be guitar into amp. This setup has provided me many hours of playing enjoyment in the past!

I think the only next stage would be to have a delay put in the effects loop just to give those lead sounds a bit of extra something and that is really all you need!

Everything stems from your relationship with your guitar, when playing direct into a responsive amp.
You might need some front-end boost maybe, and some delay and reverb for ambience.
But all guitarists should have this ‘core sound’ nailed down tight.
