Have you ever attempted your own guitar setup, or do you prefer using a professional technician?

I prefer professional setups because I worry about damaging the guitar.

I do small adjustments myself but leave major work to experts.

Compare a so called Luthier, with his steel rulers, protractors, and feeler-gauges - with someone who has lived with that guitar for 40 years, and knows it inside out.
With that in mind, then whatever your stage of development - it would be wise to nurture the skills to at least analyse your instrument, and work toward keeping it in tip-top playing order.
Many jobs are beyond average skills, but with good frets, a well-cut nut, and good geometry - there’s no reason why any player couldn’t do the rest, if they are prepared to learn.
