Climate and Acoustic Guitars – How Do You Handle It?

Post by Leeacoustic81 »

Hey everyone, I’ve been noticing that the weather really affects my acoustic guitar, especially with the humidity changes lately. I live in a part of the UK that swings between damp winters and dry summers, and I’m worried about how it’s impacting the wood and overall sound. I’ve heard about issues like cracking and warping, but I’m not sure what the best steps are to protect my guitar. Do you all have any tips or specific products you use to maintain your guitars in varying climates? Also, how do you know when your guitar might need some extra care? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I totally get where you’re coming from! I’ve had my fair share of worries with humidity too. I usually keep my guitar in a case with a humidifier when it gets dry—definitely helps!

Good advice from ClairDeLune. It's crucial to monitor the humidity. I’d recommend checking the guitar's neck relief regularly—if it starts to bow or twist, it might need some adjustment. Simple guitar care goes a long way!
