Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've been playing for a couple of years now, mainly focusing on rock and blues, and I feel like I'm stuck in a rut with my style. I keep hearing about different guitarists who have had a massive influence on others, but I’m not sure whose style I should be trying to emulate or draw inspiration from.
For instance, I love the grit in Joe Bonamassa's playing, but then I also get blown away by the technical precision of someone like John Petrucci.
How do you guys figure out which influences to follow? Do you try to combine different styles, or do you stick to one? I want to develop my own sound but feel a bit lost. Any advice would be appreciated!
