Struggling to Set a Consistent Practice Routine

Post by Newbie »

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on how to make my practice sessions more effective. I’m really keen to improve my skills, but I find it hard to stick to a routine. Some days I just noodle around, while other days I try to focus on specific techniques or songs, but it feels a bit all over the place. I’ve heard that having a structured practice schedule can make a big difference, but I’m not sure how to go about creating one. What does your practice routine look like? Do you have any tips for staying consistent and making the most of your time?

Thanks a lot!

Struggling to Set a Consistent Practice Routine

Hey Newbie. When I started out, I was all over the place too. One thing that helped me was setting a timer for each part of my practice—like 15 minutes on scales, then 15 minutes on a song. It keeps you focused and makes you feel like you’re making progress. Have you tried something similar?

Thanks, UKPete24! I haven't tried the timer method yet, but it sounds like a good idea. How do you decide which songs or techniques to focus on each week?

Also, do you think it's better to stick with one song until I nail it, or should I switch it up a bit to keep things interesting?
