Advice on Timing Gear Purchases with Market Trends?

Post by GuitarTabber »

Hi everyone,

I've been keeping an eye on the guitar market lately, and it seems like the trends shift pretty quickly. I’m thinking about selling my old Strat, but the prices seem all over the place. Some people say now's a good time because of the resurgence in vintage vibes, while others reckon it’s better to wait until Christmas when folks are more likely to splurge.

For those who have been around the block a few times, how do you decide when to buy or sell gear? Do you follow specific trends closely, or do you just go with your gut? Also, any tips on spotting a good deal or knowing when to hold off?

Cheers!

Hi GuitarTabber, you're right that the guitar market has its ups and downs. From my experience, selling your Strat now could indeed be beneficial, especially if it's a desirable model. Vintage gear has seen a surge, and collectors might be more inclined to buy. However, if you're not in a rush, waiting until closer to Christmas could yield more interest as people start shopping for gifts. Keep an eye on the listings and see what similar models are going for.
