string gauge vs style

Post by polyal »

what gauge string do you use and why?
you can ' bend ' the strings on any guitar as long as the strings are light enough ( gauge )
the lighter the string the easier and further the bend...the trade off ..if you use chords a lot they can start
to sound a bit iffy if not precisely fingered
i find 10 12 17 26 36 46 a good compromise for mixed styles

I use 9s as I find 10s too tough. I love how easy 8s are to play but I don't like the loss of decent tone.

So 9s are the compromise for me.

Sometimes I use a hybrid set whether the D, A and E are heavier but to be honest I didn't notice any difference.

I like the 9 to either 42 or 46. The 46 does give the chords a full more body in my opinion. And they really are not much harder to play on.
