Spam Fighting

Post by Olly »

Hi

We have had a bit of an issue with spammers - thanks for bearing with us.

Now if you are new user for the first couple of posts you will have to use the image verification to post.

This will only be for the first couple of posts.

Thanks a lot

Olly

Spammers are the worlds worst evil... Well, not quite. But just the same I hate them as well.

Just a little verification at the beginning is a small price to pay for no spam.

Spam is a real pain! I run a forum ( http://guitar-collector.org ) and also use phpbb. I found the best way to prevent spam is to ask a spam question on signup - e.g. "How many strings on a guitar". This simple think has proved to be much more reliable than Captcha codes and has cured my spam problem without upsetting posters. :) Still need to be vigilant though.
