Define a Well Written Song

To me a well written song is one that has something unique or special about it that other songs might not have.

This might be a really effective melody or lyric

More often than not though it comes down to the use of interesting chords that don't specifically belong to the key that fit effortlessly into the music.

So what is your definition of a well written song?

It has to be something that when you have finished listing, you go, "I want to hear that again!!!!!"

Don't know what it is, it just something about that song.

One that accomplishes its objective and makes you feel like it was something different, it could be music or lyrics. An example that I can play in my sleep but find amazing in its writing is Joe Pug's Nation of Heat.

It must feel the "importance" of it from its creator.

This is what many songwriters discover while they write that special song
