Singing AND playing

Hi

Does anyone have any tips on how to learn to sing whilst playing? I can get the strumming pattern fine but as soon as I open my mouth I completely loose all rhythm. I can kind of keep a very simple pattern going but beyond that, nothing.

Hi RS.

It sounds like you're thinking too much about it. Try tapping your foot while you sing - essentially this is no different from playing rhythm guitar.

Just relax into it. Start by thinking of the song melody in your head, then move onto humming it the you will be able to sing and play.
