Pentatonic or Major Scale?

Hello Board,

In my town there is a band that plays alot of Grateful Dead songs. My question to the board is (via the you tube video) the lead guitarist playing penatonic scales or major scales?

i would say that hes probably playing pentatonic with whatever else he feels thrown in
