Fractal FM3 vs Quad Cortex Mini

Post by Olly »

I know that sounds and preferences are very subjective but I have started seeing posts about the new Quad Cortex Mini and I am intrigued.

I’m not much of a tinkerer with sounds. I generally find something I like and stick with it. I have spent a fair amount of time getting to know the FM3 and I’m only still scratching the surface of what it can do.

The reason the QC Mini is attractive is the small form factor. But it’s an expensive purchase for that alone.

Does anyone have experience of both units and can share any positives or negatives of using one over the other?

There must be millions of Fractal User-Presets for download.
Probably pen-drives on eBay with 30,000 patches for £9.99!
Plus the artist presets.
Plenty to wet your teeth with.
So long as you can tweak a little here and there, and know how to set the volume - the FM9 should be more than enough.
Only thing better is the mk3 rack unit. Overkill for you though if you can’t program from scratch.

Take Quad Cortex with a pinch of salt. Fractal are well established - Quad Cortex new boys on the block.
I’d expand your FM9 preset directory, and explore what’s available from other’s efforts.
