Any recommendations for a tutorial/YouTube on the absolute basics? Even before learning to play. Stuff like different guitars, playing types, music construct, what exactly is a chord, pluck or strum etc.

When you're starting out, it's all about finding that connection with your instrument. A good tutorial might not just teach you the mechanics but also help you feel the music. Look for videos that emphasize playing styles and the emotional aspect of strumming versus plucking. The vibe of the music will shape your approach to learning!

If you're looking for a comprehensive breakdown of guitar types and gear, you should definitely check out a resource I created called 'The Ultimate Starter Guide for Guitarists'. It covers everything from acoustics to electrics, amps, and the essential accessories. The video playlist is handy, but I recommend the written guide too since it goes into much more detail. You’ll find all the basics you need to get started with your gear.

Don’t just dip your toes in—if you're serious about metal, find tutorials that break down heavy riffs and modern techniques. Learn about power chords and palm muting early on. You want the basics to lead into something you enjoy right away. It’s all about that aggressive sound!
