have you got enough relief in the neck ( slightly concave instead of dead straight or convex) look down the edge of the fingerboard from the headstock to the bridge to observe this . if thats ok the frets need dressing ..this is a job for a git technician ..but you can tackle it yourself with the proper tools and care
have a look on youtube for some info on it
right or left makes no difference ..goto
http://www.guitar-forums.co.uk/topic/20 … technique/
learn your chords then you can start singing the melody of the song and playing the chords that fit the melody best..since theres no written music anywhere ?..its just a case of trial and error..you'll know when the chord is right by just listening..if you start with Em the rest of the chords will be relatively simple..keep practicing and have a look on youtube for beginners lessons...i shouldn't worry about the song just yet..practice your chords and make sure you know the names of the chords you're playing....enter the old addage ' dont run before you can walk ' most important of all.....keep practicing
trying to help here..the song is built up around a few basic chords em/d/b etc( if you use the key of Em..the track is in Fm ( or near ).....what chords do you know on the guitar ? these chords must be learnt if you are going to play it on guitar
what sort of help do you need?...how far progressed on the guitar are you?
i cant tab the song because i dont know it..is the indian music written down anywhere?
can you post your vocal?
get the melody sorted first using the 12note scale then sort the key you want to sing it in
you will then need to fit chords round the melody...referring to the original song trying to keep
as near the same 'feel' as pos
try Fm to C for the first 2 chords and go from there...
what do you need to play the chords or the melody?
so how would this company operate... i discard an 'E/B/G' once every couple of years ..if i have to
wouldn't it be uneconomical to travel round ( fuel costs etc )for the odd guitar string? considering
what they weigh
+ drummers dont like musicians..hence his comment
if it was me ..i would repair the crack and fit edging ...job done
you might spend an arm and a leg ( in time ) doing a great aesthetic repair ..then the amp
might fail ( only might ) + on its first night out you might drop it down a flight of stairs...back to go
theres one thing for sure though ....once the dust settles and the novelty wears off ..you'll wonder
what all the fuss was about
anyway best of luck with your route ..and post the repair
i used to get my git out of the case and practice on the back seat of the tranny on the way to
to the gig
but the best is the travel drum kit
playing in hinkley on one sunday night ..the drummer set his kit up in the back of this large furniture van
we borrowed and played it ( keith moon style only 10x louder..and out of sight ) through the town centre
you should have seen the faces . the boy racers with their bass bin back seats wouldn't have stood a chance
as far as the 'travel guitar' goes..i should think a piece of 2x1 with 12 frets would be OK
would be interesting to hear who's got a travel guitar
what does it sound like ...post a clip
glad you're sorted ..post a jpg when you've repaired it . i think a trim is definitely
the way to go
job done for <£15 and if you shop around probably less than a £5er
after its glued you could put a metal trim across the top front ( similar to flight cases ) that would hide the damage altogether and make it even more gig proof
all i would have said is that the damage looks very repairable ( depending on your diy skills )
me personally i would try and get as much compensation for the loss in value and repair it myself
that way i would finish up with a fully functional £250 amp for £50..( and apart from the dent it looks in
pretty good nick )
split wood is very repairable with glue and clamps and dents can be filled with wood filler it doesn't seem
any more serious than that to me looking at the pic...and of course assuming the electrics haven't been compromised
i wont comment else we could go on for ever ( unless you want my opinion )
but i think you've made your mind up
anyway best of luck with your claim..let us know what transpires
scooby wrote "compensate me for the full value of the amp and their carriage charge"
so what is the full value of the amp..is it £125 ( s/h value) ???
personally if the amp is exactly what you want go for the other option ..assuming it is electrically
sound....how bad is the damage?
post a picture of the damage
this is a response from a master guitar builder who is a good friend and superb guitarist

'Hi Al
There are lots of different ways to seal a fretboard depending on the wood so here goes .Nice to hear from you ;it's been a long time .
When my band were touring Germany in the early sixties we used to back "Billy Lorento" you may remember him from the old Framus Catalogues . He was basically the german Bert Weedon who we also backed .Who's rambling ,any way Billy used to swear by Lard and in a way he was not far off. If the wood is either Rosewood or Ebony I use a mixture of danish oil ,Boiled linseed oil and teak oil ,If its maple I use either clear or slightly tinted nitro cellulose or two pack melamine laquer .Rickenbacker fingerboards are usually Padauk although quite hard needs a good laquer;they use a two pack polyeurathane.
Any way Hope all my drunken ramblin helped
cheers Doug.
P.S. some people use Lemon oil ,it's ok for cleaning the fingerboard but I personally dont care for it'
i should't think it would be inherently noisy ( how noisy is it )
anyway a check over by somebody what knows what they're doing wouldn't go amiss
dont know the london area ..so cant suggest anyone..perhaps the local music shop
will have some contacts
yeh...really good lesson..well explained
perhaps for beginners though..some easier chords ( open )
hi rea...welcome to the forum.....nice no nonsense tutorials ( only seen the first one yet though )
but its really down to the knuckle and great advice for any beginner ( and beyond )..your first lesson ( chromatic scale and technique ) is spot on
http://www.cumpiano.com/Home/Articles/A … 20oil.html
it seems you can use almost anything within reason..there is no one absolute
treatment
it seems like turps is a pro choice

loads of info on youtube
but rule of thumb... never wax anything with a grain in it
this is where you need accurate advice ...if you had no insurance..you should still be able to claim compensation for the damage to your amp caused through negligence by the courier
having said that if your amp is still working ok..cant you just plod on and use it ...many a good sound is produced via battered guitars and amps...get some dosh of the courier first though
