Olly, you should do. I have found so many old friends I lost touch with and made quite a few new ones through FB. It's a great way to touch base with other folk without the need for a full blown e mail!

I found it and am now one of the 21 people that like it!!

This offer has made me very nervous! But mostly I'm not sure I can justify paying the money even for a Mexican Strat considering I am quite a novice. Then I would need to buy an amp as well. It all adds up!! Atleast buying a squire doesn't outlay a load of dosh and not forgetting I have to pay for it all!!

Well, my wife has made me an offer. She has said she would put the extra to my guitar fund to get a better guitar!!! There is only one other guitar I would like
STRAT!!

BIG BIG NEWS!!!!
I'm in shock!!

OMG Big news!!!!

I'm pretty much thinking the weekend. A nice shiney black one (and pretend its a real Strat)!!

Well I tried out the Fender Squire Affinity today. Feels good, nice sound even from the quite basic Frontman amp. I think all in all for the money this deal at £189 c/w everything is hard to beat. If i was to pick a slightly better guitar and amp it would cost a fair bit more!

"Craic or crack is a term for fun, entertainment, and enjoyable conversation, particularly prominent in Ireland.[1][2] It is often used with the definite article – the craic.[1] The word has an unusual history; the form craic was borrowed into Irish from the English crack in the mid-20th century, and the Irish spelling was then reborrowed into English.[1] Under either spelling, the crack/craic has great cultural currency and significance in Ireland."

Well, we are only a hop across the pond, and the drink and craic is great  default/wink

Thanks Polyal. Thats what puts me off buying online, even with saving quite a bit! I'm not looking for the best git in the world, just a decent bit of kit

Facebook is brill. I have caught up with friends i haven't spoke to in years including a couple we met on our honeymoon in Crete 12 years ago!! Its a great way to either chat to friends regulary or just check on every now and again

With a Chicken Tikka Madras it would have to be a cold Cobra beer (Indian beer)!!

Oh Yeah!! Big time coke aholic here. Dare I say it but an ice cold can of coke is nicer than a beer (In the right circumstances of course)!!

I'm wouldn't like to comment as I have not played these guitars but the reviews I have looked at below seem to suggest that any of these choices is going to give value for money.

At the end of the day, it is now going to come down to the look and feel to suit your preference!

Anyhow, check out the reviews, I have always found Harmony Central to be a great resource for reviews of all different gear!

and the nearest thing to the Farida

Cheers for that!
I was playing the Farida (according to the salesman they are made in the same factory as the Fender Squire), it felt really nice. Good weight, lovely action and a good meaty sound from the 15W Roland cube!!
But at £220 a bit on the pricey side. I can get the Squire affinity kit in Belfast for £189 but i haven't had a chance to play it yet so that is next on the list

Following on from my post on ther Introduction thread:

I have been looking at Fender Squire Affinity, Farida FST 6 and also looked at Cort G series. I am looking to get a package ie guitar, amp the lot.

Any thoughts?

Hi Col

Welcome to the forums!

What kind of music are you into and what style are you hoping to play on your new electric guitar?

Hi Olly and everyone else,

I'm into most types of music but i mostly want to learn to play 70s & 80s rock. Rainbow, UFO, poss some Def Leppard if I can ever figure how to get 1 guitar to sound like the Viv/Steve and Phil!
I'm going (again) to look at more guitars this afternoon. Torn between a couple of different models. When i get back I will post my thoughts on the forum and see if I can get some feedback from you guys. My budget is not big so I need to shop wisely!!

Hi everyone, I'm Col from Belfast in not so sunny Northern Ireland. Quite new to guitars, have played a bit of bass many years ago and got an acoustic 2 years ago but fancy an electric now.
Any help & advice would be warmly apreciated.

Cheers
Col
