Think i posted something similar not long back but sorry i cant find it.

Just struggling with how to move on in my learning of guitar as ive kind of hit a plateau. Ive learnt major chords, barre chords, pentatonic scales, string bending and i dont know were to go next. I suppose i could learn some major scales?

well, here goes, im new to guitar and dont know all the real names or makes, but everything has been imported from america. Is it the sustain block inside? Thats cold pressed steel for longer sustain. New black scratch plate, locking tuners, new humbucker and pickup, new strings, 10s on this one. Whammy bar has been disconnected. I dont know what this is called but where the strings attach at the bridge, theres a new bit there so when you bend the strings it stays in tune. New tone and volume knobs. And where the dots would be on the frets there are some decals of birds, sounds crap but looks awesome.

Sorry for my lay man terminology default/sad

Ive just been watching a video on you tube but ive also heard this before and im really struggling.  A guitarist will pick up his guitar and put one finger on one string in a fret and call it a D. I only know the chord D or a barre chord. How or where can i learn this?

Sorry for all the posts! Lol, im just getting a few questions answered. Just wondered how how long to leave the strings before being replaced. The thing is i dont know what the strings are made of. I know that sounds really bad but only had the guitar about 3 months so still learning alot. I know when the strings look worn out that id definately have them done but they look fine so far?

Well my electric is Yamaha and it plays really nice, even the guys i know who have been playing years and are really good confirm its nice to play so im chuffed.

I want one with the cutaway, i was thinking of an electro acoustic but to be honest i dont think i want one now. I like them but they are more expensive plus i wont need to plug it in.

Can i do that then go to a shop and play it before i buy? Really new still to the guitar game lol I think id feel abit of an idiot because id be nervous about just playing a simple song!  default/hmm

I fancied one with a slimmer body as well, im only about 5ft six so not got the longest arms to reach over the body! haha cheers Olly.

Thanks Olly, can you give me the name of the scales you mentioned or point me towards a link on the internet that will help to learn them? Thanks

Hey guys im looking to buy an acoustic guitar soon, in about 6 months. I only have about £150 to £200 to spend though so wondering if you guys have any advice? My dad bought a Norman guitar for £300 as he wanted to start learning but he never started, shame really he wont sell it to me either lol.

I never heard of Norman, is it any good? I hear Tanglewood and Crafter are decent, although expensive. Ive also been told not to buy a fender acoustic as they arnt too good? What do you think?

Hi guys, just wondered if there were any basic tips for trying to come up with my own solo?

I keep mentioning pentatonic scales so sorry if i sound like a stuck record, but ive been playing about with it and moving right down the fret board like on the 12 fret onwards and playing and it sounds ok. Id love to be able to play even a small solo to get me going.

Also are there other kind of sclaes i can research and learn?

Thanks

Hi guys

Sorry i tried to post in the Amplifier section but couldnt fine the New Post link. Anyway the wire from my guitar to Amp (not sure of the real name but please enlighten me) has clearly got some loose wiring inside as the sound cuts out all the time. I'd like a new one and just wondered if there are on 'good' ones that i should choose?

Cheers default/smile

Hey guys

You might know im new to the site and playing guitar. Bodybuilding and strongman have been a strong passion of mine now for a few years. Ive been playing guitar foe about 3 months and already this is turning into another passion. I just had a quick google search on the two subjects together and seen a few people say bodybuilding makes its hard to play guitar?

I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this? Im not prepared to stop it but then again i dont find it any more difficult to play as im used to being more hevaily muscled than if id started bodybuilding after the guitar. I love both and its easy enough to combine the two for me personally.

Any thoughts? Cheers

I have a Yamaha 112v and although its a lower marketed guitar i still love it as its my first guitar. Its lake placid blue with a white scratchplate. It holds its sound and is easy to play. I knew nothing what so ever about guitars when i bought it but was told it was decent by a friend and was a decent price so i bought it, and then researched it. I found good reviews etc and have fallen in love.

My next guitar will be an acoustic, im looking for one with a slimmer body and a cutaway, possible electro acoustic? Then ultimately i want to join watermelon john and get a fender telecaster default/smile Simply becausr the name Fender just breathes guitar and is known worldwide and they make some of the best guitars.

Yeah it starts on the 5th fret and 6th string, im getting used to playing it faster and faster but sometime it just 'clicks' and other times i really struggle. Learnt sweet home alabama today default/smile lol, easy but effective. Really enjoying playing, must be about 3 months down the line now since i started and think im getting to grips with it default/smile Just really cant wait to play SOAD BYOB all the way through with no mistakes, then i will know ive arrived and then i will want an IBANEZ haha
