Just been checking out the site again. It looks like loads of tracks are where the guitar has been "removed" from the original song.

Anyone know how they do that?

I hadn't visited that site for ages and they never had that before! Great update!

Like the second video best here - he has some cool little tips!

Would love to know more about mixing scale types - not something that I knowingly do that much when I am playing.

Nice playing as usual Iain - another backing track with vocals that I am going to have to try and find!!

What other backings do you have that have vocals?

Nice to see you getting some recording down!

Look forward to hearing some more of your playing! default/big_smile

I think you must be out of tune - there is nothing you could have done to break your guitar that badly - You must still have it tuned to A rather than B!

Look forward to that! I am really pleased by your plans!

And good luck with all the exams!

As I am sure most of you will have noticed, I added the facebook page up in the header section of the site.

If you haven't already (for those that use facebook) , please click the like button!

It will help with the site popularity on Facebook.

I haven't got much involved with Twitter as yet. Perhaps it will be something I will consider in the future if Facebook helps!

Cheers!

As with any discipline, you have to know the rules first before you can break them.

This is an interesting point.  I'm not sure if all songwriters do know the rules at all but I wonder if the majority do or don't ?

James that is amazing!

When do you think you will begin recording a version with lyrics?

I'm just well impressed that you can search on pretty much anything and hear it for free - totally legally.

Welcome back! We all missed you!

I totally know what you mean about everything getting in the way of playing! It happens to me quite often! Glad to hear you are back at it again though!

It sounds really good James.

What are you intentions with it now then? Do you have lyrics for it?

Can you go through your recording process? What software and plugins (if any) are you using? It has a really nice full sound to it!

Do any of you guys use Spotify or Napster?

I have just started trying it and I am pretty impressed with how you can access all of your favourite songs at the click of a button!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Great news that you are starting up playing again!

There are plenty of people here that can help you along the way! What kind of music are you into?

Sorry about that - cleaned now

I think this song is great. Well played there as well. You definitely have your own distinctive sound going on within your playing that makes it recognisable as being you which I think is really great!

Keep up the good work!

I bet your neighbours love you!

i do not agree with the site admin replying to these outbursts with such encouraging behaviour.

You may not agree, but to be honest, you came here to spread the word about a site that you allegedly do not own and within your first two posts you had tried to post links back to that site that to me is spam.

I don't mind people promoting their own sites, that is what this section has been created for. However, spamming is not tolerated here.

Also, if you choose to post your site in this section then you can expect it to be reviewed and commented on.  Others have benefited from critique and improved their overall service.

We are a small community here and we all share a passion for music and the guitar. We welcome everyone who shares any degree of that passion as long as they are not here to try and take advantage.

I hope you understand.

I'd like to hear you play that track again, with a few challenges.  It may feel like playing with your arms tied behind your back:

1.  Play with no more than 6 notes to a single phrase.  7 is too many.  3 or 4 is ideal.

2.  Say as much as you can with those notes and make it in a call/response format.  Use few notes to ask a question and the next phrast to answer it.

3.  Avoid any "licks" that you know.  We all have these cliche go to's...try not to use any of them.

4.  Play as fast/slow as you like, as long as you play no more than 6 notes in a phrase.

What do you think buddy?  You up to it?

I like the idea of this. I'm going to give some of these a go over the weekend and see what happens. I think it could generate some interesting results!

Pretty spot on wasn't I?

I think so default/lol

Perhaps your intentions were completely genuine but either way, we do not want multiple posts of the same site here. One promotional post is enough and that is what this section is for.
