Top respect to you guys for making your own guitars. It must be really special to play something so unique that you have created.

I always admired Brian May for his Red Special guitar that he made with his father that he used throughout his career and still uses today.

I would like to do it but wouldn't know where to start and I hardly have time to pick up a guitar at the moment, let alone build one!

Agree

Were you hoping that you had some massive inheritance you didn't know about? Or were there other reasons for tracing your family tree? Was/is it easy to do?

Hi Ricky

Can you send me the file you were struggling to upload to ollyfallon at gmail.com and I will look into it.

Thanks

Nice review James. Is this amp now part of your primary setup?

I do like my blackstar but as I only got the small one, there is no effects loop which I find limiting. I haven't been playing so much recently but I have been testing my HD500 a little through studio monitors - the results are good, just need a little more time!

Well said James.

There are certainly jobs out there - we sometimes still struggle to recruit for positions as not enough people apply.

I think your son in law has the exact right attitude and therefore was bound to find a job. Good on him.

Like it - how much did this set you back? I really would like a 12 string for my collection - something I am currently lacking!

Looks good! where did you hear about this?

The slipping issue was because I had not double tied the strings - something I know for future. The nylon strings are very slippy so when tensioned can easily untie themselves!

Cheer for this.

I will give it a go over the weekend. Would be nice to be able to pay my acoustic again!

I decided to put some new strings on my acoustic. They are lighter than the previous but now I have terrible fretbuzz.

I adjust the truss but I have to box the neck to alleviate which doesn't seem right.

There is no adjustment on the bridge so what else should I be looking for?

Wow these monitor speakers are huge:

I thought I might not have room for them as they didn't fit either side of my monitor. But the pod sounds great on these things.

This is great advice.

I bought a really basic mixer but I haven't used it since getting my audio interface. What makes a good mixer and how will it benefit me?

Any ideas on string guage?

I have no clue and the strings on it currently seem to have passed their better days!

Thanks!

No!

I can think of a lot better ways to spend the other £15,613.27

Years ago I bought a real cheap bass guitar for recording and I never played it. It really feels low quality.

So I decided to keep and eye out on eBay for something second hand less that £100.

So now have a bass guitar coming but I don't really know how to play bass.

I have been reading about whether to use a pick or not and there seems to be quite a wide debate about that.

Anyone play bass that could give me some tips on making the transition from guitarist to bass player?

Has anyone used on of these? I can't seem to find any negative reviews about it so far

The only thing that really puts me off is the fact that it seems tied somewhat with Pro Tools and I would have to get a separate footswitch

Sounds good James

Have you got lyrics for it as yet?

I did see those on eBay but when I decide I am going to buy something I never have the patience to wait days for auctions!

At least this way I know they will be undamaged and fully warrantied!

Looking forward to trying out some of the amp moddeling on the HD500 now to see how that goes!

I got the b2031a as I wanted active monitors.

£239.64 seemed to be the lowest price from Amazon etc do I went with one of them.

Ok, well if they are good enough for you, they are certainly for me so I have placed my order!

I will let you know how I go!

I'm looking for some monitor speakers:

I note the behringer range but how would they compare to something like this

No never been to Download before - never really been much of a festival goer but I really enjoyed going to High Voltage last year and knowing that I don't have to camp out was a better idea for me.

So this is what I will be doing at the Download - just going in the day and hotelling it for the evenings.

And excellent news that Tenacious D will now be playing and Ugly Kid Joe. The D are one of my all time favourites and I am very partial to quite a few songs by UKJ!

And whilst rebates seem good, it just means that you have been overcharged tax and probably been without money you were due for a loooonnng while so, even though they are a nice surprise, you don't want to regularly have them!
