Erm - Mr Sheen! Guitar gets a polish when the house is getting one!

I like this forum the way it is default/sad

They always have been overpriced I think. I don't have any at the moment (limited resources and plenty of hobbies!) but I had one of the four-in-one sets a few years ago (whatever happened to it, come to think of it) because that was the most cost-effective system.

Dunno. Is there a huge difference? I can't afford to be fussy!

Oh yes it is . . . . if you look all serious and occasionally shake your head when you're playing it people think you're exceptionally deep.

So far the extent of my classical playing is the intro to Metallica's "nothing else matters" but having played it about 82,000 times over the last twenty years, I feel that I am ready to progress . . .

Hi guys,

Can anyone help me out with some ideas for where to start with basic classical tabs? I've been feeling the need to play something a bit more mellow and graceful but don't really know where to begin.

Any thoughts?

We've been having trouble with illegal immigrants ever since I climbed the wall into England under cover of darkness.

Why do divers sit on the the side of the boat and go backwards into the water?

Because if they went forwards they'd end up in the boat.

There you go! Hey we should jam sometime!! I'll keep rhythm and you can lead.

Perhaps you're more of a lead guitarist than a rhythm guitarist. It took me years to accept that I was naturally a rhythm guitarist; I struggled against this because I wanted to play sexy cool solos but just couldn't, then I realised that being able to keep rhythm was a skill that few lead guitarists had - neither one is better than the other but very few musicians are skilled at both.

Completely acoustic these days. My wife has relegated my amp to the loft.

Slides are for wimps.

I prefer the swings.

Rice for breakfast . . . it seems unusual but I suppose that is the staple carbohydrate out there.

A cat, named Bubbles. She wandered into the house one day about a year ago and has lived with us ever since.

How'd it go!?

Each of my guitars has a story to it. My acoustic was borrowed from my friend Greg about ten years ago. I don't think he remembers. My classical is actually my wife's, it came to her from her great aunt who had it for years - neither could play so I've claimed it by default. My acoustic-electric, which is the guitar of choice these days, was a 30th birthday present from my wife and my electric was a Christmas present about 6 or 7 years ago.

I gave it a go a few years back but I couldn't adapt to sitting in the saddle! It was just too sore for me. I tried everything, cycle shorts, new saddle, nothing worked for me. Before I moved down to England I cycled from my house in Glasgow to Loch Lomond and had to phone my wife to come and get me halfway back; I could go no further!!!

Wasn't for me.

gosh mikey, that's not too cool

actually if you hang in there and  go at it slowly I think over  time you'll be a biker

heck I'm in my mid 50's and I can go 6 hours on bicycle, but recently the sun is a bit too hot for me, so I should say during peak summer , maybe now 3 hours

What are the temperatures like over there? I thought the climate was pretty temperate.

Really? With ebay? Do tell . . .

Oh yeah, more than about half and hour is a long session for me these days, what with work, family, other hobbies.

I don't force it. Playing guitar is a luxury and a pleasure, I would hate it  to become a chore so I play when it takes my fancy and I play what I want, not what I think I should.

Hi Harana and welcome.

Where are you from?

The problem is that we've created such a mess that we can't just get up and go because it would just be chaos.

I agree with Olly. We had no right being there in the first place. And John makes a good point - our young men and women are dying on an almost daily basis. The lessons of Vietnam seem to be lost to history.
