Hey everyone,
I’ve been playing guitar solo for a while now, mostly just jamming along to tracks or working on my skills in my bedroom. I’ve started to wonder if I’m missing out on something by not playing with other musicians. I mean, I’ve heard people rave about how collaborating can really boost your skills and creativity, but I’m not sure how much difference it actually makes in practice.
Has anyone here made that leap from solo playing to jamming with others? How did it change your playing style, and do you think it helped you grow as a guitarist? Any tips for easing into it if you’ve been a solo act for a long time? Cheers!

Playing solo is great, but jamming with others can really open you up to new styles and ideas.

Absolutely! When I started jamming with mates, I found myself experimenting with riffs I never would have tried on my own. Plus, the feedback and shared energy are just brilliant. Don’t be afraid to take that leap!

Another thing to consider is how it helps you with timing and improvisation. It's a different vibe when you're playing off someone else. Have you thought about joining a local jam night or finding a few mates to get together for a casual session?

Jamming does help, but I’d suggest starting slow. Maybe find a couple of other players at your level. You’ll build confidence and it won’t feel overwhelming. Just keep it relaxed!

Yeah, that’s a solid point, Sam. Sometimes it’s about just having fun and not worrying too much about perfection. It's all part of the journey as a guitarist!
