Struggling with Song Structures – Need Advice!
Hey everyone, I'm currently trying to write some songs and I'm stuck on choosing the right structure. I've been playing around with the classic verse-chorus format, but I feel like it's getting a bit predictable for what I want to express. I’ve heard about other structures like AABA, but I’m not too familiar with how to implement it or when it might be best to use. For those of you who write your own music, what structures do you find work best for you? Do you have any tips or examples that have really inspired you? I’d love to hear what you think!

Hey Daniel, I get what you mean about the verse-chorus feeling a bit predictable. I often mix things up by adding a bridge or a pre-chorus to create tension before the main hook. It keeps things interesting and helps convey different emotions. Have you tried experimenting with unusual time signatures? That could really change the vibe!

Hi Daniel, another structure you might consider is the ABABCB format, which adds a contrasting section after the chorus. It can make your song feel more dynamic and keeps the listener engaged. Think of songs like 'Bohemian Rhapsody' that play with structure creatively. Just remember, it’s all about what serves the song best.

Great points so far! I'd suggest thinking about the emotional journey of your song. Each section can build on the previous one. AABA can be particularly effective for storytelling, where the 'A' sections set up the narrative and the 'B' offers a twist. It’s all about experimenting and seeing what feels right to you.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone! I really like the thought of mixing in a bridge or experimenting with an ABABCB structure. I’ll definitely give the AABA a shot for some more narrative-driven songs as well. I suppose it’s about finding what resonates with me and the story I want to tell.
