take the back off and insert a block of wood (free!) to stop the floyd rose from moving.

defo ..if you,ve got a floyd and dont use the trem then stabilise it with blocks of wood to
stop it moving....perfect tuning in an instant using the floyd thumb screws...if you do use the
locking nut it'll only go out of tune with temp change..but can be quickly retuned using the
screws.. tuning up or down..  the locking nut is optional though

a guitar should never be tuned ' down ' period ( unless its via the floyd ) ..if its sharp tune below pitch ..pull out the slack..
and tune up to correct pitch..if this is not done ..the string will go flat once you bend it..pull
out the slack by pulling the string of the fretboard...as hard as you dare...without breaking it
pull the string till it ceases to go flat... ( esp with new strings ) you will find your tuning
will be a lot more stable after going through this procedure

its worth checking out the earvana compensated nut esp if you use a plain 'G' and use a
lot of chords http://www.earvana.com/technology.htm

you could probably invent a multiwound pu so each string would have its own o/p
and route them to different effects units...but i dont think ones been invented yet

when i say midi .. i mean a midi pu ( on a guitar ) which o/p's individual note information
which can be sent to processers for any sound you want..not just voices

the prob is.......people go on stage with all sorts of issues...some even get murdered ( dime bag for 1 )......i had a mate electrocuted and i have played with a broken bolloxt thumb ( after an accident )
but to disappoint thousands of fans because " my throats f*cking sore " is a bloody disgrace.....thats all..
loads of struggling singers and there are loads of struggling musicians....but they pull their weight
and get on with it ...no matter what

so labone wants a fcking yatch shoving up his condescending arse

iv'e always used " pro " soundcards esp audiophile2496 with a latency down to
6ms..never got below 110ms using WMD...with the asio4all installed the latency
will go down to 10ms which is exceptional for bog standard motherboard audio ( the quality
has never been an issue just the latency )

i have only tried this in cubase and is a godsend if you hav'nt got a decent soundcard
esp for playing VSTi via a keyboard

this has all manifested itself to me because i am setting up cubase on a computer
for a third party that has no soundcard ...perhaps its more widely used than i imagined
i only found it by accident ( link)

well impressed

if you set the e string to a bass sound the a string to say a brass sound the d string to an ethnic sound
sound the g string to percussion sound the b string to a piano sound and the e string to a woodwind sound
...then you can play all six instruments simultaneously using one guitar ...if you could assign each note to a different sound that means you could play hundreds of combinations of sounds simultaneously if you could play each note at the same time..but as you implied james you'd have to be fckin
mental..or would finish up..f. mental.....might be a good party piece though

perhaps woefully misspelt could give us an example ( respectfully )...how he would implement it

With a good midi guitar controller you can assign each string different parameters ( sounds and effects )
...but each note that might be a bit tricky

I am thinking of starting my cellar its just drying the place out.

the best way to do this is to use a dehumidifier..it will shift gallons in a few days..and its relatively cheap to run compared with conventional heating....anyway you dont need any heating initially this will just cause condensation...use heating only after its completely dried out just to keep it 'aired'
then its a good idea to run your dehumidifier say 1 hour a day ( on a timer ) to keep the room damp free till you've wrote your first hit ..and way beyond that

if the cellar is below ground level the only real issue is the upper floor ...a false ceiling supported from the side walls ( avoid any contact with the floor to avoid sound conduction through it )....bass is the biggest problem is like water it  can get anywhere
baton the walls...and if you're on a budget use as mentioned egg boxes ( free ) use the softer materials
mentioned between them and the wall ( this will deaden/refract the sound and give you a good recording environment ) make  a small booth to put round your amp and sound treat that.. stand it on thick foam to absorb any sound being conducted to the floor (and the room acting as a boom box)..
no matter how much you soundproof though you will always get leakage...so be realistic with your sound levels...bass is the achilles heel so turn it down a couple of notches

whatever you use for the ' skin ' if hard material paint it matt you dont want shiney surfaces

cellar studios are brilliant ...but leave room for the corner bar and get the missus a louder tele or put her and it in the shed ( not forgetting the mobile )

this is an interesting gadget ...and probably needs a lot of skill and practice to use it.
the sound is very convincing..until the layering starts to mess it up a bit
i'd advise someone to get the real thing though ( guitar ) and put there time and efforts into that and reap the lifelong satisfaction that it would bring...but thereagain i love the guitar and am totally biased
