Hi everyone

I have been so busy recently and not had so much time. I see the forum is very quiet so I am real sorry about that. The rankings in Google have dropped a bit since the recent update which has led to very little traffic!

I have bought myself a digital piano. I am really pleased with it. Of course, I love the guitar, but I started off on piano when I was young and some of the music I have loved for years is piano based. So I decided to set myself the task of playing Bohmemian Rhapsody.

I hope to be able to play it as good as this guy soon:

Anyhow, I hope everyone is well and I will do my best to get some fresh conversation going !

Looks amazing James - how long until completion do you think?

What do you mean by recording pattern?

Are you both recording the same parts layered over one another?

Sounds like you are making great progress.

After getting the chords to ring out perfectly the next hurdle is to be able to change chords smoothly and in time.

Keep doing it slowly every day and you will get there quite rapidly!

I'll try and have a go at it over the weekend for you and will let you know! Good work on trying it though

I know what you mean here. I can only think of the odd couple of songs that I know the names of but I recently heard some greatest hits album and I realised that I knew of most!

I know what time signatures are but they are a very grey area for me. I have been checking out some off the tutorials from youtube and I am still not really any the wiser.

I get 4/4 time and I pretty much get 3/4 time but anything else I really do not understand.

For example 2/4 - I read people asking what the difference between this and 4/4 is and the general response is that there is very little difference so why would anyone use it?

Can anyone help with explaining more about time signatures and their uses?

Thumbs up James - great inspirational story and good luck to you (though doesn't sound like you need it!)

I have been using double drop D tuning (DADGBD) for learning A Song For George by Eric Johnson.

It is the first time I have really experimented with altered tunings and you can get some interesting results!

I see you are pretty local to me. I am only 10 miles or so from Bournemouth!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Don't get too hung up with not getting each note to ring out right yet - especially as you are only a few days in. The fact that you know it is not sounding correctly is great and that will allow you to fix it as soon as you get more used to the shapes.

It is most likely not that you aren't pressing hard enough but more that you are not pressing in the correct position or one of your other fingers is also touching the string!

Anything we can do to help just ask!

Hey and welcome! You sound a lot like me! I have never really played in front of any kind of audience!

Look forward to hearing your stuff!

Just bought the 1w Blackstar amp today. Pretty impressed with both build quality and sound.

Will report back how I get on with it when I have had a little more time to play it!

If you do ever feel pain when playing guitar you should act on it right away. There should be no pain with playing. Maybe sore fingers but that is it.

Warm up correctly and if you feel pain - stop playing and reassess your technique. I have heard of lots of players not being able to play any longer because of injuries

Welcome to the forum!

Love the music!

Hi Mitch - welcome to the forum.

I think that the sound and feel is way more important than looks!

What about just using one of those splutters you can just plug in.

I remember one of my old guitar teachers did that and it worked ok though if you turn one guitar down, it turned the other down, so not sure how well that would work for two people playing at the same time!
