Do you write your own music at all Don? Is songwriting something that you teach in your lessons?

Yes there is a new digital bill about to come into law in the UK. Which will give the power to your ISP to slow down your internet connection to a speed slower then dial up.

Do you know how and when they decide to do this? Are they checking web traffic for bittorrents or whatnot and how are they defining legal against illegal content?

It is an interesting issue.

No this is great stuff and look forward to hearing more about your approach to songwriting.

Thanks for taking the effort!

So what is the next chord you would like to learn to play?

What is your favourite chord to play and what position on the fretboard do you play it?

Do you tend to find that a lot of people quit when it gets to the summer and more people begin when it gets colder outdoors then?

I expect January must be quite busy with all the kids getting guitars for Christmas?

Not quite sure what you mean about the friend request thing but I can always look into it further.

The design is pretty basic and maybe I will change it at some point but it is quite easy on the eye when reading posts I find. Some other forums can be tough to read so in that respect, I think it works well.

Thanks for your valued contributions to the forums so far Eric. I hope that you stick around and if there is anything that you need just shout - same goes for everyone else here as well!

Thanks a lot for that - maybe you could post some of your songs/playing over in the Your Recordings section?

My issue is that I get stuck with starting anything. I am sure once I get going I will be fine but starting a song off seems to be really a block for me. I have been saying this for months, in fact years on here but I still haven't actually written anything despite best intentions.

I am going to try an new approach which I have not tried before which is to write some lyrics and try and build from there. I bought myself a new notepad and a nice pen and sat down. So fat the notepad is still blank after several weeks!

Hopefully soon though when I have a little more time again (if that ever happens!!)

I agree with vibrato and bending with the occasional slide.

I do occasionally use tapping but i have never really mastered that fast tapping that seems to move across the fretboard!

I'll check out your site in your signature link!

why is it called warp refraction?

I checked out the youtube vid. I must say, with a name like warp refraction I was expecting some amazing thing that I had never heard of before! Bit of a disappointment!

I like this philosophy.

How many students do you currently teach Don?

I haven't heard of either of these before. I stopped teaching a while back now but it is always great to hear recommendations for books.

There are so many books out there and I have found most to be not that great. There are a few gems out there that really do help.

don p - I like this your idea for this. +1 thanks for sharing

No worries!

Yes you should get a delay pedal if you are into lead playing! It really makes a great difference!

If you put your finger on the second fret on the G string and play just the D string and the G string it could be classed as a D5 or D powerchord.

Is this what you mean? If not please clarify and I will try and help!

I use a tascam audio interface that I picked up for under £100 and it came with Cubase LE. I invested around £50 in getting Ezdrummer which I am very happy with. With the free plugins out there this is more than adaquate to get you up and running and, in my opinion, a far  better solution than getting some hardware device that you can not upgrade or alter the stock sounds.

I use the cheapest strings - legacy I believe 9-42s though once I get through my current stock I am going to try and get some more expensive strings and see how much it affects the tone if at all.

I changed to these cheap strings many years ago when I was changing them once every few days. I never noticed any difference in using more expensive strings. My ear any playing has matured somewhat since then so I had better check it out again!
