Is anything further happening with this collab?

Hi James
A chord book is good however there are loads of references online and if there is a chord you don't know then just shout and they can be written like this:
- for example a C = x32010

I personally think in this situation I prefer the second.
But would that apply to every amp at every setting with every volume - that I am not so sure.

Re: Online guitar lessons (11 replies, posted in Resources)
So are you saying that if someone signed up for the $100 they could use their tutor to help out with any of the 10k videos as well as the initial course?
I get that having a tutor is way better than youtube, but if you learn the basics with a tutor (either online or offline) then you can go off and discover whatever you like. If there was a technique you couldn't accomplish then you ask your tutor.
I think having 10k videos + audio lessons etc will take someone more off course than watching an unstructured youtube video
I'm all for the course but can't see the video advantage, certainly not for the price!
Just my opinion!

The online course is a good idea, though I would assume there must be some kind of time limit or limitation to the number of questions / interactions at any given time?
Personally, unless the videos were something special, I don't think it warrants paying that amount - I appreciate there is some crappy material out there on the web however youtube has plenty of really great videos that provides all manner of teachings at zero cost.
The tuner, metronome etc can all be found with a simple Google search - again some are crappy but some are very good.

I didn't save my acoustic version as the recording was so crap due to my mics not being set up for it. I will do so though, possibly not for the next couple of days due to my work schedule

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
It is possible that I could have some form of music writing dyslexia if that even exists!
The difference is, is that I don't have a picture in my mind to start with. I'm trying to seek inspiration from the foundation, in this case the initial chord progression, and generally I have no problem being inspired to lay down an initial idea like this.
So tell me the next stages from here - how do you plan to take it one step forward?

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
Maybe Olly You just need to find your inspiration..
Maybe James though even when I feel inspired I cannot get past this initial barrier of taking an idea one stage forward.
Maybe once I got the ball rolling, I would be ok.

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
So what would you guys consider this part - is it purely the intro, is it the start of a verse as well?

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
I put in the track in Cubase and added some drums, looped it and just put a tiny bit of acoustic over the top (I'm really not set up for this).
But this is the same as I am always up to - exactly this point. I try to think about where it could go next, try thinking up a melody but in the end I just end up noodling with no direction over the fret board until I get bored.
So I think it will be massively beneficial for me to see how you guys move beyond this step.
And whilst I don't think I will specifically be able to contribute much to this collaboration, I am working along with it at every step of the way!

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
No James. I really don't have a clue where to go from here. This is my stumbling block zone so I am watching with great interest on how it can be taken from this idea, into a song

That is pretty cool there - making your own pedals must be awesome!
Who is playing the backing track on the second video? It sounds like Myles Kennedy singing

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
Glad it is all working again.
Is that guitar in the slow version the same tempo as the orig or did you slow it slightly? I can imagine that the reason it sounds slower is just because of the drums and bass giving it that feel?

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
It looks like this problem with Chrome could have been around for a while
http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p … &hl=en
I just downloaded the latest version and successfully uploaded 2 x MP3s no problem. So if you are using Chrome can you update to the latest version and try again?
Thanks

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
I will try and look for a better upload method today.
Just drop the tags I sent you into your post for now then you will be able to edit comments etc.
At the moment there is no simple way of downloading the MP3 - I can look into this.
The issue with allowing direct uploads is that it opens up a load of security issues within the server. So I will try and relax the rulings a little without creating too much risk.

Don't know - what browser you using? Email it over and I will work it out - still have Ricky's one to work out as well!

Re: Collaboration (78 replies, posted in Misc)
I'd be really interested to see how you guys can turn this kind of initial idea into a full song. I have come up with little ideas like this in the past yet I can never get beyond this first point.
So where do you go from here and what is the next stage?
