I have never managed to write a song as I can never know where to start.

Ok so the question in the title?
Would you have one custom made and what would it consist of?
Perhaps there is one out there you would love to buy but cannot afford.

I have a lot of isseus with hum from powere supplies ruining my sound.
How do you pwoer your pedals? Do you have each one on its own plug or do you go for the brick type spplies that allow you to pwoer many at once?
These are the type I find create the hum for me but perhaps its a fault with one of the pedals that s causing it.
Annoting though

Here is a question -
If you have lots of seperate guitar pedals how to do you mount them for transport?
I have a specfic case designed to take several pedals it opens up to create the pedal board. The pedals are attatched via velcro so easy enough to move around.
Still quite messy though and a lot of wires. How do you mount your pedals?

Topic: Which Wah do you use? (6 replies, posted in Effects)
Hi
I use the same as Satch uses (or used to) its the Dunlop Crybaby 535Q
Its great as it allows to adjust the parameters of the wah. I think its the best wah I have owned but it is quite expensive.
What does everone else have?

Here is one of my only recordings I did on the guitar. This was several years ago now and was just a one off take that I called Amazing as I was so pleased to have finally recorded something that was in a kind of song format.
This is a rock instrmental just made with a basic drum machine - so please forgive teh odd bum note and teh fact teh drums continue at the end.
Please check it out at

Hi Guys
When I first started getting into the guitar I really wanted to record some stuff - I found a site that allowed you to post your music online for all to hear. I got some good ocmments about the music I put up there even though most was just covers of Satch numbers.
This site has now closed but there is a really good new site called Soundclick
It will allow you to very easily create a page for yourself or your band and add your music.
You should register then we can review each others music

Re: When did you start playing guitar? (24 replies, posted in Guitars)
I don't think starting at 16 is too late- most people do not have teh ability to focus on their skill until at least 16. As you are older you are able to be more self diciplined.
I did learn when I was young but onl the basic skills which allowed me to then pick it back up when I had grown up and focus on what I wanted to achieve.

I always struggle writing my own material - I know its in there somewhere but unfortuantely I can never express it.
How many people have written their own songs and how did you go about it.
Please share any links to your own efforts

Sounds like a good list but I am not a fan of any of these bands. I haven't heard any really good rock songs as such since the year 2000 - I do like Tenacious D though which is rock in places!

Re: Time and what should be practiced in beginning? (13 replies, posted in Newbie Section)
I would think 1-2 hours per day is too long for a new player. I think you can learn the guitar with 20 minutes to half an hours practice a day when you are new to it.
I think once you get into it you will want to play and practice more than this.
It is certainly not essential to play for 2 hours a day to get good at the guitar - most people simply do not have this kind of time.

Re: The Boss DS-1 (2 replies, posted in Effects)
The difference is the ability to get the right tone. Both pedals adjust the same but one is smooth and lovely and the other is much more coarse and harsh sounding.
Sure you have to fit an effect to the song but distortion is widely used in all kinds of songs from soft pop to heavy metal.

Re: Wah effect (1 replies, posted in Effects)
I agree - It's a lovely effect to have. It makes your lead playing sound so expressive when used correctly. It also makes lead playing sound blazingly fast when using the wah.

Re: Best amp for bedroom practice? (15 replies, posted in Amplifiers)
Even 5 watts is very loud.
5 watts goes not equal half that of a 10watt amp.
It would really need to be under 1 watt to be the best.
I have not heard of any such thing.

Albums seem to not be so popular these days since downloading came about.
There also are not many albums you would listen to the whole way through and like very song so most people do not bother.
There are some rare gems of albums you can listen to the whole way through and love every song -Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction is an album that I love very song..
It is very good in every way
Do you have any?
