Looks like a good starter package to me and if it looks good to you, feels ok to play and you like the sound you get then I guess it looks like the right choice for you.

When are you thinking of buying it?

Hi Shayne

Thanks for this.

Though I find that unless you are only using the Cmaj - Dmaj vamp, the whole Lydian flavour gets lost.

Can you suggest a progression utlising more of the above chords that keeps the modal sound.

Yes I am sure after the first time it will be much easier, especially as I am sure that the feeling is so good and that makes up for the initial nerves.

When my children get a little older then I am up for doing some live stuff. Hopefully by then it will be playing my own music as well!

Sounds good - so mainly are you just playing covers these days with just you and a singer?

Yes I am very Pleased with the Revalver, certainly for recording. What you hear is what gets recorded which makes life so much easier! I look over at my Marshall amps and do feel a little bit sorry for them. I am sure in a live environment the Marshalls, cranked, will be much better for me, but at the moment, as I don't play live, the Revalver suits me perfectly!

That is a truly brilliant tale and I am very glad I opened this thread!

Well done you! That is a true guitarist - only learning the intros!

I have heard a few stories from people where they had been playing live and something had gone wrong.

I went to this very small gig/guitar clinic with Paul Gilbert. He told of a story where he was opening up for, I believe, Aerosmith. He had a drill with picks attached that he could do some spectacularly fast picking.

As he came out he raised the drill and pressed the trigger. It immediately got caught and tangled with his (at the time) long hair. He said he had to dive behind the amps while frantically trying to untangle himself. Luckily someone was there that put the drill in reverse and freed him. Then it was back to the gig!

Has anything like this ever happened to you? Tell us the story

When you are playing live do you use different equipment and/or setups than when you are playing at home or recording?

I would assume that when playing at home you would not have the amp cranked that loud, so do you use separate amps?

As I mentioned in a previous post, I do not play live and never really have done.

I don't like playing that much in front of people, and if I think I will have to then I generally do not play that well and my nerves can build up days before I have to play which makes the whole episode rather unenjoyable.

I am pretty sure that once I got used to playing live I would enjoy it but maybe that will be in a couple of years!

So have you ever had stage fright or experienced similar? Do you still get nervous when gigging?

In the 18 odd years I have been playing guitar I have only once played in front of an audience and that was when I made made to when I was about 11 year old in middle school.

Me and a friend played cats in the cradle in school assembly and I was petrified.

Since then I have only ever really played in front of one or two close friends since then and even then I do not feel that comfortable with it.

I have only been in a two bands. One band lasted a few weeks as none of the members (apart from me) regularly turned up on time for practice, if they even turned up at all.

The next band was much better but there was already another guitarist and the music didn't really call for two so I felt like a bit of a spare part that didn't do a lot.

So now I reside to playing guitar alone which I am quite happy with for now.

So how many of you play live and how often? Do you play for free or do you make a bit from playing?

So when you are recording with your Zoom do you just plug directly into your PC with it or do you mic up an amp?

Hi Welcome to the forum.

How long have you been mastering for? It is a subject that I have only just even discovered on this forum!

I'm wouldn't like to comment as I have not played these guitars but the reviews I have looked at below seem to suggest that any of these choices is going to give value for money.

At the end of the day, it is now going to come down to the look and feel to suit your preference!

Anyhow, check out the reviews, I have always found Harmony Central to be a great resource for reviews of all different gear!

I second that!

Yes Mikey is right also about not having to spend a fortune to get something decent - especially as a starter!

Anyhow I will look forward to hearing your selections!

Cheers Mikey. I will set one up and let you know!

Thanks!

John - you should check it out. There can be a lot of people writing pointless status updates but I have caught up with a few long lost friends on there and then subsequently went out for a few beers so it certainly has some advantages!

Well done! I am not very good when it comes to exercise. I really should do more, however I would not choose to jog, I would prefer to cycle!

I gave this a go last night and it seemed to work ok. This time both the input and output levels were showing signal.

Not sure why this didn't happen before but at least it is working now so thanks!

Did you give Revalver a go when you downloaded it? What did you think?

Hi Col

Welcome to the forums!

What kind of music are you into and what style are you hoping to play on your new electric guitar?

So who uses Facebook here? (is there anyone left in the word that doesn't?)

I am thinking about setting up a facebook page for the forum to bring in some more traffic. I am not quite sure how this is going to work yet but I know I can do facebook ads.

I notice more and more sites are showing the "like" button on their sites - do people use these? I guess they must but I don't!

Thanks for the advice. I will give this a go later and report back!

Oh ok, thanks. I will give it another go tonight.

When I tried it it sounded really different from when I had it as an inset on an independent track. I initially thought it might be the way it was routing it though when I saw no input level showing when it was on the group track I assumed this was why it sounded different.

I'll report back later this evening!

I am a little stuck with this...

I have created a group track, I added the revalver MKII to the insert of the group.

I then created an audio channel and where it previously had "stereo out" I changed it to "group1"

I get sound but it looks like I am no longer sending to the premap (input) section of revalver and only to the power amp (output) which results in a crappy sound.

So maybe I am missing something here? Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you use a foot stool?

Yes does look pretty cool - have you ever seen them live at all?
