Well done James - how many more years is it to go? Surely not 12 years!?
I'm not sure buying a really expensive guitar to just look good playing (especially just in your living room!) can be justified unless you are turning into a proper guitar collector!
You should get out and play a few and see what you think.
My Les Paul has turned out to be way better than I expected in playability and tone with the plus point of it looking cool!
Welcome to the forum! You will find plenty of people willing to help you here!
How much were the taxi's out of interest?
They were meant to fixed at £20 however after the first day when there was so much traffic they scrapped that rule and they just charged what they wanted.
The most we paid was £35 but 2 taxis a day for 3 days became pretty expensive between 2 people!
Good news is that the weather *may* be changing next week so hopefully some sun at last!
Hopefully it will help pick up the economy a little but It is a major expense at the moment and I wouldn't like to be traveling anywhere near London when the events are on. It will be an nightmare.
Even down here there has been loads of roadworks going on for ages to cope with people traveling down towards Weymouth for the sailing events.
PS - Olly did you brave the camping?
I'd booked into a hotel in Derby...
No I am not one for camping at the best of times and I am very glad I did - I stayed in the holiday inn at Derby - it just meant that the taxis were ridiculously expensive for the whole three days and there were loads of delays in getting there and getting back!
Still better than sliding around in mud I think!
your photos are great- brings back good memories!
James - it was dry but incredibly muddy on day 1!
I agree with you regarding the strat. It has never been a shape that I really liked although my first ever electric guitar was a strat (cheap copy!) and of course, I did love it at the time.
The Les Paul for me is just great. It oozes pure rock. I am so pleased with mine it has rocketed above the JS1000 immediately.
Sounds good. I didn't see Lamb Of God as didn't know who they were but only heard good things about them since!
Saw loads of good bands. Never heard of Steel Panther before and I really liked their set!
It was nice there was a bit of sun on the Sunday!
I never even knew there was a such a process.
I would definitely like my guitars to remain nice and shiny. Even though I try and prevent them, I would never really try to repair any chips or scratches as they can add character - however it depends where the damage was!
Hi James
It cannot be directed at you. You pretty much hold this whole place together.
I tried my hardest to try and get traffic to the site. I did everything I believe I could. I spent many hours working on the site, many many hours on SEO and paid a lot of money on SEO. I got the site up to page 1 in Google for a few good terms but it was still real hard to get the visitors here.
Then after all this effort, last year Google dropped the site from the front page and it vanished into the abyss.
Considering the amount of time and money spent this was incredibly disheartening however this is the way things work in the SEO game.
I am truly grateful to the likes of James, Poly and everyone else who continues to try and keep this forum alive.
Over the last year or so I have been incredibly busy in my job. I have a young family and I also have to try and actually get some guitar playing in. So my time resources have been stretched to the max. Therefore I have not been putting the time into developing a new strategy to bring more users to the forum and I am even guilty of not posting nearly as much as I should do.
So I am not going to give in and I will dedicate more time just as soon as I can. for now I am going to move the domain in case it is that that is causing the penalty within Google.
Thanks for the continued support.
What was that bottle that the guy necked? That is crazy shit!
to be honest iam done with this site was lookin for some feed back in my tracks seems to much bother for folks
Sorry to hear that Iain.
I'm sure it isn't because people cannot be bothered though!
Cheers James
If that does happen I will certainly consider you. However it does seem very unlikely right now!
Anyhow - you have your SG so you should be grateful!!!
Here is my Les Paul. In the end I went for a classic plus. I am not sure all the ins and outs of the differences but what I do know is this has the 60s neck which is a lot slimmer than the 50s so it plays really easily. It is also non chambered - or at least not the extent as the standards.
It plays really nicely and I am loving it at the moment.
This is my custom made "Robin Greenwood" guitar. He is a local guy to my area and he has done a superb job on this. The sound is great and I can only see it improving with time.
Sounds like a nasty experience to me.
I am lucky with my teeth and so far, no major works
It would be so cool if this did turn out to be priceless!!
Congrats on giving up James!
I have never tried them but I have heard they can help people.
The Les Paul is really great by the way. I would say my favourite guitar by far at the moment!
Just got back from Download. What a messy weekend but the bands were great.
My main highlights were:
Metallica
Tenacious D
Black Sabbath
Slash
Ugly Kid Joe
And there were loads of others.
Also I got home to find my new Les Paul had arrived - so pictures will follow.
I also recently received my custom made acoustic guitar which plays and sounds so nice. Really pleased with this one.
Happy days!
I am now looking to buy a les Paul but there seems so many variations I am confused.
There seems to be a lot about chambered or urn chambered and 50s or 60s necks amongst other things.
Prices seem to vary wildly.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Tell more more - or is there already a thread about it?
Hi
Sorry, once again, for not being around too much. I have been so busy with work but should make more of an effort to stop this forum from completely dieing!
I have managed to find a little more time for guitar of late. I have commissioned this guy to make me an acoustic guitar and I go both my current acoustic and my JS1000 electric set up and serviced by him. It has made a world of difference and they both play great now.
I have also just upgraded my 1w Blackstar amp tot he 5w head and cab version. This was because there was no effects loop in the 1w which just made it unusable for me. The new has the effects loop and sounds really good.
I was previously using the Pod HD500 through monitor speakers but I just wasn't able to get a sound that I really go on with - again, this was mainly due to time constraints. Now I have the HD plugged in using the 4 cable method which allows me to use either the Blackstar preamp or any of the other modelled amps along with all the effects I wish, in the sequence that I want. I haven't tried the modeling yet as the sound I got straight out the box with the Blackstar was great with just a couple of effects.
Only a few weeks away until Download festival which will definitely inspire me to get back to rocking out!
I hope everyone here is well and thanks for the continued effort in keeping the forum alive!
Olly
Is it B B King?
Can I have your SG?
Hi Welcome to the forum - good to have you around!
Hi Mark
Nice to see you about. Your site is developing nicely. Your videos are really useful.
Mark used to teach me guitar a few years back and he gave me the confidence to begin teaching myself which I did for quite a while until family commitments prevented me from continuing. He is a top guy and a great teacher!
